A message of peace; in the court of a Christian king

One of the earliest encounters between Muslims and Christians is through peace, in the court of a Christian king. The world has evolved differently then with The Crusade, World Wars, colonization, and the War on Terror globally and locally.

Let us draw out the voices of peace from amongst those of different faith. Unto the Universal Creator, The Merciful Most Compassionate we return. The scene below is from an old movie "The Message"

And I find the video below (from Surah Maryam) on Maryam/Mary (Peace be upon Her) ) very inspiring and instructive for my understanding of Prophet Isa/Jesus (Peace be Upon Him) in the Koran.

Wonder why Mary is all alone in her labour and beyond without the husband. And the just born who can speak. Even when Christ came as a man, we would grow as a normal man. Thanks for sharing.

When the muslim leader claimed that in Islam, they treat women as equal, the Arab emissary laughed. Funny thing, I laughed too. It's quite interesting to note how two opposite perspectives could find the same comment funny.

You mentioned that one of the earliest encounters between Muslims and Christians is through peace. The world has evolved differently then. I agree with you. However, you forgot the conquest of Jerusalem, Byzantium, Egypt, Spain, and other East Europe by the sword of Islam. You have also missed out thousands of suicide bombs and murders of civilians in New York, Spain, and recently, in Mumbai.

The Arab emissiary laughed because it was impossible in their culture to give women equal rights. Do not confuse Arab with ISlam. Even bilal was freed and given equal status. The first enemies of Islam were arabs (meccan) many of whom later joined the cause after seeing the truth. The greed of some muslims cant be used to justify that islam is bad or that The prophet is not preaching the truth. Muhammad was persecuted his entire life by the meccans. Even after his death his lineage was massacred by other muslims because of power. Hassan, hussain,Ali and and subsequent shia imams were murdered. Even today the wahabis are destroying graves of The prohets famili members. Why dio u think that God broght down religion to the Arabs? or the Israelites? One who would cheat a starving man his birthright with a bowl of soup

The conquest of any nation is by the sword aty that time. Were the biblical stories any different when the fought wars with each other? israelites against edomites, against philistines, against rome? What matters is will the religion stay long after the sword has rusted. How dis ISlam spread to China or south east asia? I dont remember any arabs riding horses converting anyone in this region.

Muslims did not conquer jerusalem but liberated it. Umar came into the gates of jerusalem on a donkey with plainnsclothes unlike the arrogant pompuos crusaders. Muslim armies never massacred the surrendering population of jerusalem. The opposite was true when the crusaders took over. Massacring every living soul within its walls.
Only during the muslim governance of jerusalem were the jews allowed to return, this wasnt true with any othe powers that took jerusalem. Umar even rebuilt the temple site from a pile of rubbish . So the christian evamgelist doctrine of rebuilding the temple and allowing jews to return was already fulfilled by the muslims.

Spain was in a warring state with its many kings and princes when tarig arrived. Muslim rule of spain liberated it in a sense that it ushered in the golden age of islamic civilization which contributed immensely to humankind in many fields: astrology, mathematics, philosophy, medicine etc. It was the superpower back then.

And what does those suicide bombers (thousands of them as you say) have in common? They were all responding to the zionist terror throught their own actions. These people do not represent islam. They represent themselves an their interpretation of islam. Were the medieval christions any diffent burning people at the stake or killing muslims and jews thinking that they will go to heaven? Or the salem witch hunt? or the
Lynching the blacks and massacring the native americans?

Christians believe in the end day as it is mentioned in the Bible and so do Muslims.

Muslim just celebrated Raya Haji in remembrance of Prophet Abraham who scarified own son to God(but God stopped him) which is also written in the Bible.

The fact is Muslims, Christians and like it or not Jews are all from the same origin ie Adam and Eve. What happened in between only God knows that broke 1 into 3. Believe someday 3 will be merged back into 1, may be when the 2nd coming of the Messiah. According to the Bible that will be when the world coming to an end ie dooms day. Christians and Muslims all believe in the creation of the new world thereafter not sure about Jews.

World will be more peaceful if Christians, Muslims and Jews forgive each others for the past, accept and love one another, if that possible. What happened now is they are now murdering each other in the name of retaliation or pay back time.

Anyway, speaking as Christian here think what Bush did in Iraq and what happen in Israel now is all wrong, based on universal principle put aside all religious beliefs. Similar as what the Muslim terrorists did in World Trade Centre and around the world. Should be condemned and stopped by the United Nations.

Just hope aft Bush, Obama will bring more peace to the administration, quenching 'bush fire'.

Peace to all.
