no way ....
In terms of political and economic strategy, it might not be a bad idea. A win-win situation for all.
why not? lets merge. then the malays in malaysia can stop using the malays in singapore as an example of 'marginalized' and 'bullied' minority to justify their 'ketuanan' over their own minority citizens. Many don't seem to understand the logic behind this justification really.not a bad idea at all!
malays apartheid (malaysia) + chinese apartheid (singapore) = equal rights for all?not bad an idea really!
... but history has taught us that such idea will immediately be shot down with "biadap!", "jahanam", "nyanyuk" etc... I wonder what's the inferiority complex display about?A bigger country so frightened by a 'dot'.
I think the question is not will but when. Because Singapore "left" us because of the racist attitude of UNMO. If we take away those racists and when equality is restored then there won't be any more major issues.
I think UMNO and PAP is almost same la, 5x2, 2x5. Racist was the ideology behind of setting up Malaysia and Singapore. No doubt about that. We cannot deny the history facts. However, nothing is wrong or late for both countries to merge in the name of humanity and equality for all.
The reality is most singaporeans look down on us wholesale(malays, chinese, indians) bcos of our own doings (disunity, corruption, clown MPs,racist/selfish/tainted politicians, education misdirection, poor teaching standards etc..).They want the land size, not the system and the peoples. They are world-class but we are still fighting ourselves
In Singapore, they pick the best brains to run the country, in Malaysia, they pick the "best connected". How to work together. Some common sense, please.
Singapore is at least 15 yrs ahead of Malaysia. A 'red dot', but mightier than Malaysia in terms of wealth, expertise, economics, banking, technology .... Singapore believes in equality for all races and brains to run a government ... Malaysia in "ketuanan melayu" and cronysim for govt ... who is going to be the "BOSS" if it merges? It certainly would be a "mismatch".If UMNO is going to run the show, then it would be better for Singapore to run, and keep its wealth and what they have built up through hard work in a tight vault!!
Sorry, forgot to add: Singapore cannot tolerate corruption, Malaysia Boleh! So how?
Thanks to the many MP clowns churning worldclass jokes every other day,not to mention our hang tuahs and little napoleans misdeeds, our country's image is tarnished internationally. Spore is the opposite. How to match ah?
It's the same. We want their brains, but not their 'ketuanan'. They want our land, but not our 'ketuanan'.Do away with both 'ketuanan', then merge loh!
hahaha... we are so way back behind Singapore, and yet want to rule. Mana boleh merge. Nanti semua kena balik kampung sebab nak jadi jaguh, jaguh kampung! Forget about it, if we don't change the current day govt, Malaysia will only fall further backwards. The ones with brains and money will migrate.
It's only a matter of time before they merge. Singapore just don't have the natural resources to sustain its growing population. The Singaporeans will then merge with Malaya or even take over by force Bintan Island or parts of southern Malayan Peninsular. They have become a very strong and advanced military nation if you haven't noticed by now. And we are so weakened by our internal squabbling and indecision on whether to buy or not to buy some lousy helicopters. We are also weakened by massive corruption, paying big prices for poor quality hardware. We are so very weak militarily speaking. I am so afraid for this country, honest.John
Malaysia has plenty of resources ... but where are we now? It is how you manage a country and its resources. Singapore will even not have to depend on Malaysia for water very soon! That is where they have dumped all their money ... on research and development ... As for its military, what with all the "mad hatters" like Ahmad/ultras always after the blood of the Chinese ... can't blame them for being defensive!

They are world-class but we are still fighting ourselves. It is true that most Singaporean do look down at Malaysian…. But its all because they do not understand the real scenario here in Malaysia.. I came with the same mentality…. All things great about Singapore…. But after spending almost 10 yrs here…..I can say 10 good years as I’ve made many Malaysian Friends along the way.. Malay as well as Chinese and Indians, I began to see their point of view particularly the Malays. I began to understand why they are so paranoid of the Singapore Malays and I sense inferiority complex particularly when you try to compare the Singapore Malays and the Malaysian Malays. What’s my opinion of merger between Singapore and Malaysia?Nope………never will happen... I will be one of the many persons to oppose strongly to such idea. It’s not about looking down at Malaysia… but we are like the ‘daughter’ who has been chased out of the house. We’re being told that we can’t make it….. And that we will one day come back knocking at the door begging to be let in… Singapore still remembers this. We have move……becoming too independent and have our pride….
what? i thought we have merged already?
The merger or non-merger of Singapore is not an issue today as Singapore is now a sovereign country. The question is why did Singapore become an independent country. Singapore's independence was never planned nor asked for by LKY. This man was more interested in bringing the PAP to the peninsula. So why in God's name did Malaysia kick Singapore out of the Federation. Everyone should remember that it was Tunku who first made the announcement of Singapore's exit from the Federation. Singapore immediately prior to joining the Federation was in economic decline. The British presence which at its height constituted a large chunk of the Singapore economy was dwindling rapidly with the winding down of the British military presence in Singapore. The tin and rubber trade which which fueled Singapore's port was being challenged by the ports in peninsula Malaysia. UMNO led by people like Syed Hamid's father believed that Singapore will never be able to survive without the Malayan hinterland. UMNO kicked Singapore out of the Federation so as to bring Singapore to its knees and to make them crawl back to their Malay Tuans. It is no secret that at the expulsion of Singapore UMNO was formenting racial strife in Singapore. Imagine a defenseless Singapore without a military force or a sizable police presence having to deal with the racial riots in Singapore then. Fortunately, David Marshall was able to persuade London to guarantee Singapore's security with the remaining British military presence in Singapore. One can only imagine what the Malay hordes would have done had the British left Singapore defenseless. So the UMNO gambit failed and until today the Malays are still paying for UMNO's stupidity. Witness Pedra Branca.Whether Singapore will merge with Malaysia or not has today become a non-issue for Singapore. It is only an issue among the Malays in Malaysia for they now know they were being blithering idiots to allow Singapore to slip through their hands but 'Ketuanan Melayu' does not allow the Malays to publicly acknowledge their stupidity.
will never happen in the next 60 years, so dont waste time on this! after that?? most of us today will be gone!
But one thing is for certain, 25 -30 years from now.. This will be a hot topic for debate...No city_state can sustain on its own forever is proven historical concept...
That's right look at history. Many city-states have actually outlasted countries such as Malaysia. Your history sucks.
Malaysia can join Singapore! We welcome you!
