O' Man

O' Man ...
by azly rahman

O' Man
what have become of you
special you are not
like Prometheus you stole fire from the gods
learn to cook what you hunted for
dig into the earth for fossil fuel
hungry like a wolf you have become

you are no better than an ape
refusing to grow hair to keep yourself warm
stealing Fire to survive those harsh winters
from Nature you steal
turning everything into Capital
taking god with you and making priests amongst better liars than you

O'Man
honored you are not
no more than those that hath not evolved
better than the tail of a child in a womb
arrogant you have become
from Nature you cometh
Nature you have raped
building civilizations against one another
so that the strong amongst you
may trample upon the weak
on altars
of sacrifice
the Fire within you may burn the Earth asunder

O' Man
noble you are not
you are not alone
in a world wherein the ant and the antelope
are nothing but a system
that is as natural
as you and I
O' Man wither your evolution?
